Milton Glaser's I Love New York Campaign

Ask any recent design graduate to name five designers and discuss one of their works and you’d get an ear full of Milton Glaser’s I Love New York campaign. The man is a living myth, and I’m happily surprised to see him celebrated while he is still producing work. Milton Glaser: To Inform and Delight will likely do as the title indicates, informing and delighting the youngest generation of design students with Mr. Glaser on the silver screen. I haven’t  seen the movie yet, but I know it will be worth your while. If you’re local, it’s playing at the Orange County Museum of Art on August 27th at 8pm.

To get a quick fix, you can visit Hillman Curtis’ short documentary video of Milton Glaser – I recommend all of the short videos in his “artist series” to my students and often watch this one in class.

For a lengthier, but perhaps more intimate time with Mr. Glaser, his books are in your libraries and of course for sale on Amazon. I haven’t read this one, as the word “drawing” in the title intimidates me. However, Art Is Work is a must-have for your shelves.
