Think your portfolio is good? Check out Michael Bierut’s circa 1979!

"Actual portfolio, cardboard and fake leather, 34 by 42 inches, circa 1978." --MB on Design Observer
“May I Show You My Portfolio” is one of my favorite posts on Design Observer. I love it because Michael Bierut openly shares work from his early years as a new designer. I love it because I’m a fan of vintage, cardboard portfolio cases. I love it because I believe that the professionals who rise to the top should embrace a pedagogical role within the discipline.
Sharing an early portfolio, talking to students, and behaving in a friendly and approachable professional manner are ways of doing this. This is an old post (2007), but for me it is a classic, and for my students it is new each year.
